mniraq - The Iranian Ministry of Justice announced on Tuesday (September 15, 2026) the transfer of dozens of Iranian citizens imprisoned in Iraqi prisons to their home country through the Mehran border crossing.
According to the ministry's statement, the operation included the transfer of 49 Iranian nationals who were serving prison sentences in Iraq, as they were transported via the Mehran land border to complete their sentences inside Iran.
The move comes within the framework of implementing the joint security and judicial agreements between Baghdad and Tehran concerning the exchange and transfer of convicts between the two countries.
