mniraq - The Azerbaijani capital Baku witnessed on Tuesday (September 15, 2026) the adoption of the Baku Declaration at the conclusion of the seventh meeting of the Council of Heads of Religious Administrations of Muslims of the Organization of Turkic States, which called for enhancing peace, openness, rejecting violence, and combating terrorism and extremism.
According to a statement carried by local media, the declaration included essential provisions aimed at strengthening solidarity among Turkic peoples, consolidating spiritual and cultural values, in addition to developing cooperation in the fields of religious education and scientific research, and adopting joint fatwas.
The statement added that the document affirmed the commitment to combating terrorism, extremism, separatism, manifestations of Islamophobia and Turkophobia and sectarian rhetoric, as well as protecting the rights of women and children and spreading the historical heritage of the Turkic world.
Mufti Abdulaziz Zakirov, Chairman of the Muslims Administration of Kyrgyzstan, affirmed in his speech at the meeting that the Islamic religion calls for science, research and useful thinking, stressing the need to direct youth toward the fields of artificial intelligence, medicine and technology based on the historical contributions of Muslim scholars.
For his part, Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Board, noted during an event honoring the scholar Sheikh Sayyah Yahya Bakuvi that international events promoting religious stability and interfaith understanding through Islamic dialogue are an imperative necessity to confront contemporary threat factors such as terrorism and the misuse of religion.
