The Federal Integrity Commission has announced the dismantling of a massive corruption network within the Diwaniyah Municipality Directorate, involved in embezzlement, bribery, and the squandering of public funds. The extensive operation resulted in the issuance of approximately 30 arrest and search warrants targeting high-ranking officials, including the current and five former municipal directors, as well as several heads of accounting, auditing, and procurement committees. Investigations revealed significant manipulation of purchase invoices and the submission of fraudulent project reports in collaboration with contractors, leading to the loss of billions of dinars. Authorities seized large quantities of forged disbursement vouchers, official stamps, luxury vehicles, and illicit cash, with all suspects and evidence referred to the competent judicial authorities for further legal action.
