Construction Progresses on Baghdad-Karbala Double-Track Railway Ahead of Arbaeen Pilgrimage

The General Company for Iraqi Railways announced the ongoing construction of the double-track railway project connecting Baghdad and Karbala, specifically within the Yusufiya-Mahmoudiya section, aiming to launch operations ahead of the upcoming Arbaeen pilgrimage. Management stated that the new line will significantly increase the frequency of daily trips, reduce travel times, and accommodate massive passenger volumes. The double-track system allows simultaneous train movement in both directions, eliminating delays caused by passing trains and enhancing scheduling efficiency.
