The Civil Defense Directorate announced on Thursday (May 7, 2026) that seven people were killed in a horrific traffic accident in Diwaniyah Governorate.
The Directorate stated in an official statement that rescue teams in Diwaniyah completed a difficult extraction operation for seven victims who died following a violent collision in Al-Badair sub-district between a four-wheel-drive Yukon vehicle and a heavy transport truck (trailer).
It confirmed that rescue teams rushed to the accident site immediately upon receiving the report, and made great efforts to extract the bodies from under the wreckage of the two destroyed vehicles, amid sad and painful atmosphere.
It indicated that the bodies were later transferred to the Forensic Medicine Department to carry out the necessary legal procedures.
