Shalamcheh Border Crossing Inaugurated with Comprehensive Upgrades to Accommodate Arbaeen Pilgrims

The Border Ports Authority has inaugurated the newly developed Shalamcheh border crossing, one of the primary land arteries connecting Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran, as part of intensive preparations for the Arbaeen pilgrimage. The inauguration ceremony was attended by parliamentary figures, local government officials from Basra province, and senior security commanders. This opening marks the culmination of a comprehensive rehabilitation campaign that upgraded infrastructure, administrative, and service facilities. The initiative aims to provide an integrated working environment that elevates passenger services, alleviates overcrowding, ensures smooth commercial exchange, and fortifies security and organizational protocols.
