Alexander Gintsburg, scientific director of the Gamaleya National Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology Research, announced on Tuesday (May 5, 2026) extremely positive results for the new anti-cancer vaccine.

Gintsburg explained that the first patient who received the vaccine showed only a slight rise in temperature once, without any serious side effects, noting that this rise is considered a normal reaction similar to what happens with any traditional vaccine.

He confirmed that the patient suffers from stage three cancer, which gives this medical achievement special importance.

It is recalled that the first dose of this personalized vaccine named "Neoncovac," designated for treating melanoma skin cancer, was administered on April 1 last month, and is the fruit of cooperation between the National Center for Radiation Medical Research, the Gamaleya Center, and the Blokhin National Center of Oncology.

The drug targets adults with inoperable or metastatic melanoma skin cancer.
