mniraq - The Iraqi National Security Service announced on Friday (September 11, 2026) that it had dismantled a network specializing in drug trafficking and promotion in the capital, Baghdad, arresting its six members, in addition to seizing about 3.5 kilograms of marijuana inside one of the network's warehouses.
The agency explained in a statement that the operation came following intelligence and field efforts that began with information about one of the marijuana dealers, before follow-up and tracking operations led to uncovering the network's extensions and reaching its warehouse.
It added that the agency's detachments, after obtaining judicial approvals from the specialized judge in Baghdad, managed to set an ambush for the first suspect and arrest him, after which tracking operations continued and resulted in the arrest of the remaining network members.
The agency indicated that investigations and field inquiries led to a marijuana warehouse hidden inside an abandoned house, which was raided and the narcotic quantity inside was seized.
The agency confirmed that the suspects and seized materials were handed over to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal measures against them.
