A high-level Iraqi government delegation paid an official visit to the Turkish capital, Ankara, to hold a series of technical and legal discussions with officials at the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. The talks focused on the future of the joint oil pipeline agreement and explored the mechanisms necessary to ensure the continuity of Iraqi oil exports, including production from the Kurdistan Region. The meetings witnessed a consensus on the need to draft an interim executive protocol that paves the way for resuming exports and serving the mutual interests of both countries. This protocol is planned to serve as a transitional step toward drafting and concluding a new, comprehensive strategic agreement within a period not exceeding one year from the expiration of the current agreement, thereby enhancing prospects for bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.
