The Ministry of Oil announced the arrival of TotalEnergies' technical teams to begin field surveys for associated gas investment and oil field development projects. This partnership is the largest of its kind in the history of the Iraqi oil sector, aiming to stop gas flaring and transform it into fuel for power plants, saving billions of dollars annually. The project also includes building a massive seawater desalination plant, which will provide the water needed for oil operations without depleting river and well water. Experts confirmed that this project represents a "masterstroke" in the energy file, combining increased oil production with environmental protection and providing clean energy, placing Iraq among advanced nations that adopt sophisticated and sustainable technical solutions in managing their natural resources.
