The Iraqi South Gas Company refuted today, Friday (May 1, 2026), claims that downplay the technical feasibility of the accelerated gas project at the Bin Umar field, describing them as "misleading and not based on technical data." In an explanatory statement, the company confirmed that the project is not merely limited pipeline works but a complete production system handling daily quantities of up to 80 million standard cubic feet of associated gas that was previously flared. It added that the system currently produces 55 million standard cubic feet of dry gas designated for power generation plants, in addition to daily quantities of liquid gas (600 tons) and condensates (1,800 barrels). The company invited media outlets and specialists for a field visit to inspect the measurement meters showing a total production increase of 100 million standard cubic feet, warning against promoting inaccurate figures that would mislead the public.
