Official medical sources in Kirkuk Governorate reported on Thursday (May 7, 2026) that strict preventive measures have been taken following the suspected infection of a woman approximately forty years old with hemorrhagic fever virus, who was immediately transferred to an isolation unit at a government hospital.
The sources explained that the patient underwent quarantine procedures upon arrival, and her case is being handled according to approved medical protocols for infectious and epidemic diseases.
They indicated that the patient's health condition remains unstable, confirming that biological samples have been collected and sent to central laboratories in the capital Baghdad to conduct precise diagnostic tests and determine the type of infection.
The sources emphasized that the handling of the case is based solely on the suspicion hypothesis, without a final diagnostic confirmation at this moment, noting that the laboratory results expected to be issued within the coming hours will determine the final treatment and procedural course.
