Environmental Reports Warn of 15 Climate Disasters Facing Iraq, Urge Emergency Measures

Specialized environmental monitoring reports have warned of the escalating impacts of 15 environmental, climatic, and man-made disasters affecting Iraq over the past three decades. The reports highlighted that desertification threatens nearly 55.5% of the country's total land area, with 23.2% classified as degraded land. Key challenges include severe drought, dust storms, extreme heatwaves, and water pollution, prompting calls for declaring a climate emergency and modernizing irrigation systems.
