Specialized government departments have praised the growing level of commercial cooperation between the Republic of Iraq and the Republic of Turkey, particularly in securing food supply chains. These official statements came in response to data showing Iraq topping the list of countries importing grains from the Aegean region. In this regard, the Ministry of Agriculture affirms its continuous efforts to regulate import operations in accordance with the national agricultural calendar, ensuring the citizen's need for basic food items is met while simultaneously protecting the local product during peak seasons. Iraqi commercial attachés in Turkey are working to facilitate the conclusion of contracts for both government and private sector companies to ensure the quality of imported materials and their compliance with Iraqi standard specifications. The government considers this close trade exchange a reflection of the strategic bilateral relations that Baghdad and Ankara seek to develop to include areas of agricultural investment and modern technology transfer.
