Economic researcher Ziad Al-Hashimi strongly criticized what he described as interference by ruling political entities in the state's financial policy management, noting that the government has been stripped of its authority to make independent economic decisions. Al-Hashimi explained that recent decisions involved greenlighting the government to borrow five billion dollars monthly from the Central Bank to cover operational expenses, deeming this a blatant interference that undermines the Central Bank's independence, violates its governing laws, and turns it into a direct financier. He warned that this approach will rapidly deplete the country's dollar reserves and weaken the Central Bank's global financial standing. The researcher emphasized that these steps reflect a lack of genuine will to reform financial imbalances, combat corruption, or reduce waste, concluding that the continued dominance of the political establishment over financial decisions will leave the government constrained and unable to implement radical solutions to accumulated economic crises.
