The Administrative Deputy Governor of Basra, Maher Ibrahim Al-Amiri, sent an official letter on Friday (May 8, 2026) to the Ministry of Finance to ensure the funding of salaries for contractors within a batch of 13,000 job positions, in implementation of the directives of Basra Governor Asaad Al-Eidani.
Al-Amiri explained that the request includes funding the current account of the Financial and Administrative Affairs Department at Rafidain Bank - Basra Branch, with a total amount of 23,030,580,276 Iraqi dinars, to ensure the disbursement of contractors' entitlements according to the attached commencement lists.
He confirmed that all legal and administrative requirements have been completed, noting that the government pension contribution of 12% has reached 2,763,669,633 dinars.
This measure comes within the framework of the governorate government's continuous efforts to overcome financial obstacles facing contractors, amid the difficult economic and living conditions the governorate is experiencing.
