Informed sources revealed on Thursday (May 7, 2026) the launch of the Hajj supplies distribution process to Iraqi pilgrims through the Hajj and Umrah Commission centers in the capital Baghdad and other governorates.
The sources reported that the package provided to each pilgrim included basic materials of low quality, including a toothbrush, an umbrella, and toothpaste, with a market value in wholesale trade of only about 500 Iraqi dinars.
Several pilgrims expressed, in direct complaints, their deep dissatisfaction with the level of these supplies, especially given the rise in Hajj trip costs for this season to approximately seven million Iraqi dinars, considering that this package does not match the financial sacrifice they make.
The Hajj issue in Iraq remains a subject of intense annual debate, extending from the quality of accommodation and nutrition to the level of organization and transportation, and reaching the basic package that each pilgrim receives.
