Thwarting an Attempt to Smuggle Millions of Counterfeit Dinars and Arresting a Foreign Traveler

mniraq - The Border Ports Authority announced the thwarting of a dangerous attempt to harm the national economy, following the arrest of a foreign traveler who attempted to smuggle large quantities of counterfeit local currency into the country. The authority explained that the vigilance of the staff working at one of the border crossings led to the discovery of the counterfeit money carefully hidden inside luggage during routine inspections in the arrivals hall. Following immediate coordination with the judicial authorities and obtaining fundamental approvals, the path of the operation was tracked down, leading to the apprehension of the other suspect responsible for receiving the counterfeit funds inside Iraqi territory. All those involved have been referred to the judiciary to face fair legal procedures.
