A recent scientific study conducted by the University of Birmingham revealed potential health risks associated with tea consumption due to high levels of microplastics. Tests covering various beverages showed that a cup of hot tea might contain a higher percentage of microplastics than carbonated and energy drinks. Researchers explained that high temperatures, along with the use of plastic-lined cups or nylon tea bags, increase the release of these particles, which may be linked to various health disorders and effects on iron absorption. The study recommended using loose-leaf tea or plastic-free paper bags to avoid these risks.
