Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf warned on Tuesday (May 5, 2026) that the continuation of the current situation constitutes a burden that the United States cannot bear in the long term.
Qalibaf announced via the "X" platform that a new equation is currently crystallizing in the Strait of Hormuz, affirming that navigation security and energy transit have become threatened by Washington's policies and its allies.
He pointed out that the United States bears responsibility for the escalation through violating the ceasefire and imposing the blockade, vowing that this aggression "will end soon."
He confirmed that Tehran has not yet activated its full capabilities, indicating that it retains additional pressure cards.
These statements coincide with a sharp rise in tension in the Strait of Hormuz, following attacks targeting commercial ships, and American reinforcement of military presence in the region, within the framework of the raging war since February 28, where Iran imposed new transit procedures on ships not affiliated with Washington or Tel Aviv.
