Prime Minister Directs the Formation of the Supreme Sovereign Council for Integrity to Recover Public Funds

Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi directed on Saturday, May 30, 2026, the establishment of the Supreme Sovereign Council for Integrity, Oversight, and Recovery of Public Funds. This decision was made during a special meeting chaired by Al-Zaidi to discuss government contract auditing mechanisms, attended by top officials from the Federal Board of Supreme Audit, the Commission of Integrity, and relevant judicial authorities. The Council, chaired by the Prime Minister, aims to monitor oversight files with significant financial and economic impacts to curb financial waste and recover looted state assets. The meeting also emphasized the necessity of verifying the economic feasibility of projects and forming centralized and sub-committees to audit government contracts prior to signing, ensuring compliance with existing laws and financial allocations.
