Parliamentary committees specialized in agriculture and water affairs have warned of the escalating negative impacts of climate change on Iraq, asserting that nearly 70% of the country's geography is now threatened by successive waves of drought. The warnings highlighted the decline in water resources due to the policies of neighboring countries and rising temperatures, which have heavily impacted the agricultural sector and caused a reduction in agricultural plans for strategic crops. Parliamentary circles called for the adoption of a comprehensive national strategy based on scientific foundations to manage water resources, protect food security, and save the most vulnerable areas, such as the marshes, from severe economic and environmental repercussions.
