Ministry of Agriculture Announces Ban on 33 Agricultural Imports to Support Local Production

The Ministry of Agriculture has announced the implementation of strict measures to protect local produce by banning the import of 33 readily available agricultural crops, based on the approved agricultural calendar. This step aims to prevent unfair competition and ensure market balance, guaranteeing a fair economic return for farmers and shielding them from financial losses. The ministry reaffirmed its full commitment to government directives canceling import licenses for most goods, with exceptions for specific items subject to security and health regulations, such as veterinary medicines, seeds, and pesticides. The ministry also clarified that the issuance of import licenses for permitted items is conducted with complete transparency through three advanced electronic platforms, following the acquisition of necessary sectoral approvals.
