The Joint Operations Command issued a clarifying statement regarding circulating reports about the presence of unauthorized bases and forces in the desert areas of Karbala east of Nukhayb and Najaf. The statement affirmed that the command is closely monitoring all statements and news being circulated in this regard, noting that the matter relates to an incident that occurred earlier, when a security force from the Karbala and Najaf operations command moved and clashed with unidentified unlicensed groups supported by aircraft, resulting in the martyrdom of one fighter, the injury of two others, and the disabling of a vehicle. The statement explained that security units continued to pressure and maintain presence in that area, forcing those groups to withdraw while taking advantage of air cover, and that security forces continue to inspect all sectors regularly, especially desert areas up to the international borders. It noted that certified security reports confirm that Iraqi territory is free of any unauthorized bases or forces from that time until today, emphasizing that some parties are attempting to exploit the incident politically through statements that harm the reputation of Iraq and its security leadership, which affirms that there is currently no illegal force present. The Joint Operations Command stressed that legal measures will be taken against anyone who publishes misleading information or malicious rumors that affect Iraq's sovereignty and the prestige of its security institutions.
