These moves are the result of high-level understandings between the leaderships of both countries, agreeing to gradually hand over border camps to the Iraqi Army as a first step toward establishing full national sovereignty. Bilateral discussions emphasized the importance of enhancing security and military cooperation to end the presence of illegal armed elements in border areas.
