Iraqi-Syrian Agreement to Reactivate Border Crossings and Expand Trade Exchange

An official meeting involving border, customs, and transport officials from both countries resulted in an agreement to establish direct communication channels to address obstacles and facilitate smooth trade exchange. The decisions included resuming passenger traffic through the Al-Waleed crossing once its facilities are completed, adopting electronic customs data exchange, and allocating new lanes to ease the passage of trucks and fuel tankers. They also agreed to expand the Rabia crossing to accommodate commercial volume and enhance mutual economic interests.
