Minister of Oil Basim Mohammed Khudhair unveiled Iraq's ambitious efforts to end associated gas flaring by the close of 2028 through parallel developmental projects in key gas fields, aiming for total self-sufficiency and an end to imports. The Minister also announced a strategic vision to establish a new oil pipeline network aimed at diversifying export outlets. This includes signing memorandums of understanding to study the construction of a strategic pipeline connecting Basra to Kirkuk and onward to the Ceyhan port, alongside evaluating expansions towards the ports of Baniyas and Aqaba to bolster export security and reduce reliance on the Strait of Hormuz.
