Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein reaffirmed today, Friday (May 1, 2026), during a call with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi, that dialogue and peaceful means are the only way to end the current regional crisis. Hussein stressed, according to an Iraqi Foreign Ministry statement, that Iraq is one of the most affected by the ongoing war, both economically and security-wise, which necessitates urgent international action to stop the escalation and make way for diplomatic solutions. The two ministers emphasized during the call the necessity of respecting the sovereignty of states and not expanding the conflict in a way that destabilizes the security of the entire region.
