Iraq Launches First Combined Rail Transit Line to Afghanistan to Boost International Transport

The Ministry of Transport announced the official operation of the first combined rail transit line originating from Iraq to Afghanistan, in a strategic move aimed at enhancing international and regional transport corridors. The ministry explained in an official statement that the first shipment passed through the western borders towards freight and logistics stations, to be linked with national railway networks and continue its path towards the eastern borders. This project is considered a significant achievement in developing the international West-East transport axis, effectively contributing to lowering logistics costs, reducing transit times, and stimulating trade and economic activity among regional countries.
