The commander of the Green Zone traffic sector has activated new regulatory procedures near the main entrance to the zone, aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving traffic flow in the capital, Baghdad. The measures include setting up barriers and traffic guidance signs to direct citizens towards alternative routes.
A security source explained that this step is part of organizing vehicle movement and preventing bottlenecks, especially during peak hours, in addition to advising citizens not to head directly to the zone unless necessary. He noted that work is ongoing to update field procedures to serve traffic flow in the capital. These procedures coincide with the state of security alert and mobilization witnessed in the Green Zone.
