mniraq - The Council of Ministers decided to zero customs duties imposed on solar energy systems imported into the country, in a step aimed at reducing their acquisition costs and encouraging citizens to use them to diversify energy sources.
The Ministry of Electricity stated that the decision came following an official proposal submitted by the Minister of Electricity to the Prime Minister to reduce customs duties on solar energy systems and their components, in an effort to enhance reliance on renewable energy.
In a parallel step, the Ministry prepared a draft set of instructions to regulate the connection of solar energy systems to the national electricity grid, including articles regulating connection mechanisms and energy exchange, allowing citizens to connect their systems using smart meters, contributing to reducing electricity bills and easing loads on the national grid.
