International press sources revealed that Germany has revived its efforts to obtain Tomahawk missiles and American Typhoon launch platforms with the aim of enhancing its defense capabilities amid escalating security challenges in Europe. According to the sources, the German government is seeking to convince the administration of US President Donald Trump to approve the deal, at a time when German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius is preparing for a potential visit to Washington to present the proposal directly to the White House, provided that an opportunity arises to meet with the US Secretary of Defense. The report quoted one of the sources as saying that Berlin is ready to pay additional amounts to ensure the completion of the purchase process, reflecting German flexibility in negotiations and a clear desire to accelerate the modernization of its defense arsenal. These moves come within the context of the agreement announced by the previous German government in coordination with the administration of former President Joe Biden in July 2024, which stipulated the deployment of advanced American weapons systems inside Germany starting from 2026, including Tomahawk missiles, SM-6 missiles, and hypersonic weapons, which are systems that far exceed in capabilities what is currently available in the European continent.
