Environmental Warnings Over the Disappearance of Baghdad Forests Project and Diversion from Its Core Path

mniraq - The Green Iraq Observatory warned of the risks of the disappearance of the "Baghdad Forests" project and its transformation into an investment project that loses its intended environmental objectives, in light of the absence of field indicators on the launch of its construction works in its designated location at Camp Rashid. The Observatory explained that the project represents a vital and important lung for the capital, which suffers from high levels of environmental pollution resulting from industrial activities and transportation, stressing the need to preserve green spaces and limit random investment expansion at the expense of vegetation cover that contributes to improving the region's climate and facing climate change and dust storms.
