Economic Calls to Diversify Iraqi Oil Export Routes to Avoid Geopolitical Crises

Oil sector experts have emphasized the importance of leveraging Iraq's geographical location to diversify its crude oil export routes, warning against the risks of relying entirely on the Strait of Hormuz amid escalating regional tensions. Specialists called for adopting a comprehensive national strategy that includes reviving pipeline projects through Turkey and Syria, in addition to accelerating the export pipeline to the Jordanian port of Aqaba and reaching understandings regarding Red Sea outlets. They noted that oil constitutes the main backbone of state revenues, requiring it to be distanced from political disputes and safeguarding the national economy from any potential disruptions in international maritime navigation.
