Baghdad and Erbil Discuss Security Cooperation to Cut Terrorism Support Sources

mniraq - Counter-Terrorism Service Commander Lieutenant General Zaid Hoshi Al-Moussawi met with Kurdistan Region Interior Minister Reber Ahmed on Thursday, September 10, 2026, to discuss a number of priority security issues between the federal government and the region. The meeting focused on developing coordination mechanisms and exchanging information and expertise, while strengthening integration between security institutions to confront terrorist threats and challenges. The two sides also discussed pursuing remnants of terrorist groups and cutting off their sources of support as part of joint efforts to address security threats. Both officials stressed the importance of continuing cooperation and coordinating efforts between security institutions in Baghdad and Erbil to strengthen the ability to respond to challenges and consolidate security and stability across Iraq.
