Abbas Al-Jubouri, head of the Al-Rafid Center for Strategic Studies, stated in remarks on Tuesday (May 5, 2026) that the government assigned to Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi stands before a historic opportunity to achieve real success, supported by unprecedented internal and external understandings.
Al-Jubouri considered that the political understandings that preceded the formation process constitute a solid foundation for stability, and reduce the chances of political deadlock that hindered the performance of previous governments.
He pointed out that popular and political momentum gives the government a strong boost in its launch, but remains hostage to its ability to deliver tangible results in service and economic fields within a specified timeframe.
He noted that regional and international approval opens horizons for economic cooperation and investment, and enhances Iraq's position in stabilizing security and confronting challenges.
He affirmed that the keys to success lie in managing sensitive files, foremost among them combating corruption, improving services, and revitalizing the economy, while maintaining a balance in external relations that preserves national sovereignty.
He viewed the current phase as one of the most prominent opportunities available to any Iraqi government in recent years, but the biggest challenge remains in translating this support into actual achievements on the ground.
